EV Conversion Process - Removing Internal Combustion Engine
We start by removing parts and systems related to Internal Combustion Engine ( ICE ), such as air intake, exhaust pipes, muffler, catalytic converter, various emission system components, fuel tank, radiator. Then we unplug all electrical sensors around ICE, some of those sensors will remain in EV so we can retain original computer functions like speedometer, tachometer, temp gauge, etc. Then we unbolt the ICE from the car and take it out with the transmission attached to it. Since we reuse many parts around the ICE, such as sensors, steering pump, air conditioner, what's left is not very useful, so we can try to sell it for parts or recycle it at one of local junk yards.
Depending on your car's model, the engine may still be worth few hundred bucks, if you want, you can take it and sell on your own. Next we would detach the ICE from the transmission, clean up the engine bay, drain transmission fluids, and clean everything up.
